Moorlands Fisheries
There has been a gradual drop in water temperatures that has triggered the start of the autumn feeding spells and it looks as though they have a few of the upper thirties and low forties ready to make some good weight gains. The fish are still young, and are growing their frame as much as muscle and with a further feed next spring and some eggs inside them the skies the limit. Moorlands will not be draining the lake this winter so they won’t have that stress to combat either. The totals for the last two weeks are: 17 catfish to 60.0 lb plus, 94 carp including 32 thirties and 7 forties. Top end carp; 35.08 lb, 36.05 lb, 36.00 lb, 37.03 lb, 38.10 lb, Common of 41.07 lb, Mirrors of 41.04 lb, 42.13 lb, 45.05 lb, 42.04 lb, 42.03 lb, & 42.07 lb.
Neuilly
Neuilly had a group this week, which caught in total 84 fish, biggest carp was 48lbs and biggest catfish 60 pounds.
Le Moulin du Mee
A great week for the Mancs lads! Well the lads from ’sunny Manchester’ have completed their week and what a great week it turned out to be. Pb’s broken daily and the lake record common landed also plus the biggest brace to date meant it was of Le Moulin du Mee’s best weeks this year. Keith Jones had 28 carp including the new lake record common and the biggest brace (common at 43.25lb’s and mirror at 39lb’s) and Gary Rothwell also broke his Pb’s for both mirror and common and finished up with 28 carp also. Gary had 5 x 30’s up to 38lb and one wonders what he and Keith would have totaled had they fished all nights instead of bringing the rods in for a couple. Mark Aldridge and Shaun Hall spent the week doing there own version of ‘Passion for Angling’ and were to be seen spending their days creeping around the undergrowth stalking the carp. They each had some fabulous fish including a stunning 36lb common to Shaun and 5 x 30+ mirrors to Mark. I reckon the highlight of Marks week was the 31lb mirror he stalked from the narrow channel at the top of the lake. Young Dean Bishop also had some lovely fish including 2 Scale back to her best at 37lb and Dell Griffiths managed new Pb’s for both mirror and common as well as some other cracking fish. Only Chris Booth failed to get amongst the carp in numbers but still managed a new Pb after moving swims at the back end of the week. The total for the week was 132 including 128 carp and 4 sturgeon. As well as the lake’s new Pb common at 43.24lb the catch included the follows: 40lb +-1 carp, 35 - 40lb-5 carp, 30 - 35lb-10 carp, 25 - 30lb-27 carp, 20 - 25lb-49 carp, doubles-37 carp, Sturgeon-4 with 2 at 20lbs and 2 doubles.
The weather was warm and sunny during the day but quite cool at nights for the whole week with just a little wind from the North East. Water temperatures dropped to around 18c from 25c just 2 weeks ago so the carp are now starting their pre winter feed and they anticipate some great fishing for the rest of the season. The successful tactics were boilies over a heavy baiting of our carp pellets. Their crab boilie was very successful and had the new record amongst many other carp.
Ultimate Lake
Ultimate lake was fished by 2 French locals last week. They had a nice total of 16 fish in 3 days ranging in from 26lb to 49lb.
Les Croix
Chris Daley and Paula Hargan from Milton Keynes, Bucks were fishing at Les Croix this week.
Fishing 4 rods between them and fishing days only (Chris did one night) they took turns with the rods. Electing to go with the particle approach, they used 30kg pellets and 25kg partiblend and fished plastic maize hookbaits on size 6 Gardner Talon Tip hooks to 25lb Kryston Super Mantis Gold hookinks.
The catch for the week was 22 carp for a total weight of 435lbs including 10 x 20's and 3 x 30's, the biggest fish being mirrors of 38-00 and 37-10 taken by Paula, with Chris taking the third 30 at 32-11. Some very nice 20's including 2 x 28's and 2 x 26's to back up the 30's, and Chris catching one of the grass carp at 26-02 on his birthday which absolutely made the trip for him.
Apart from one afternoon when the heavens opened for a few hours, the weather was excellent with blue skies every day and a nice temperature, but the North Easterly airflow meant that the temperature at night dropped quickly.
"The best weeks fishing abroad we have ever had” was the summary from Paula and Chris, who have promised to return in April next year - praise indeed for Les Croix!
Lake Juvanze
Mr P Rixon fished at Lake Juvanze with 3 other anglers last week. They caught, 21 carp from 16lb to 46lb including a 43lbs Mirror. Mr Rixon found that Jeff’s CC metor worked the best on spots Jeff pointed out to us. Mr Rixon said: “Fishing difficult due to time of year and weather conditions, but we all caught with Jeff’s help. Food was superb. We all enjoyed our first fishing experience in France and would recommend this venue to anybody. Thanks Jeff.”
