ANOTHER LAKE RECORD BROKEN

25/05/2011

30th April - 7th May '11

On Saturday there were signs of spawning but then it stopped and the fish began to feed again.

It was a very productive week with 2x50lb (common), 3x40lb (1x mirror and 2x commons), 11x30lb, 17x20lb and 15x15lb+ (mixture of both).

Another nice grass carp came out 23lb 7oz (new record) in immaculate condition.

As far as the cats go, there were in total 6 which consisted of 109½lb, 59lb, 55lb, 2x48lb and a 38lb12oz - a pretty good week.

Unfortunately heavy spawning has started again at the beginning of this week (w/c 7 May).

YET ANOTHER BRILLIANT WEEK

25/05/2011

23rd - 30th April '11

A total of 71 fish were caught this week weighing in altogether at 2094lb. This includes another new lake record and this one is for grass carp. Bearing in mind that we only put in 6” long fish four winters ago the new record is 23lb4oz which is exceptional in our case.
The rest of the catch for the week comprised 1x50lb common, 3x40lb, 11x30lb, 24x20lb and 22 over 15lb.

At the beginning of the week the carp started to spawn but this stopped once the air temperature dropped quite low, ie just 10c and water temperature to 19.5c. Since then the air temperature has risen to mid-20c range but as yet there is no further sign of spawning and catches continue.

Other catches included ten catfish, best of which weighed in at 108lb, 104lb, 78lb, 74lb, 2x57lb, 1x55lb, 1x50lb, 1x36lb and a 15lber.

And the Nightingales are still singing.

BACK TO THE GRIND

10/11/2010

Last week I can update you with the fishing from 19 to 22 June. If and when I get some information on the weeks that I was away I will let you know.

19 – 22 June
Fishing the lake this week was Paul Palmer, his son Scott and Rob.

Rob had a stunning 50lb common which was his pb plus 5x30s and 25x20s carp.

Paul had 2x70+, 1x60 and 2x50 cats plus 1x40, 7x30+ and 16x20s carp.

Scott had 1x50, 4x40 and 9x30 carp.

In the course of the week they had, of the larger fish, 1x50 and 5x40lb carp and 2x70, 1x60 and 2x50s cat. They also achieved a total of 4pbs.

Including other fish, the grand total was a staggering weight of 3,275lb (129 fish in total). They were so tired they didn’t even fish the last night. Without a doubt this was an absolutely splendid week.

The average water temperature was between 22/23c and the average day temperature was 27c,

LOVE IS IN THE AIR

10/11/2010

w/c 15 May 2010 (continued)

After the great start to the week the water temperature rose to the magic 18c and we had the last three days of heavy spawning which definitely put a damper on the week. The total catch for the week was 86 fish. We had 8x30s, the best fish going 38.8lb, 5x20s and 9xdoubles the rest were catfish the best of which was 106lb (previously reported) a 45lb, 44lb and 58lb. As the main lake was spawning the lads decided to have float fishing matches on the lagoon which is full of small catfish only. The majority caught were between 15lb and 30lb. This obviously made the catch total appear better than what it actually was.

ALL CHANGE AGAIN - FOR THE BETTER

10/11/2010

w/c 15 May 2010

So far this week (today being Sunday) there has been quite an improvement in the weather and it is now starting to warm up nicely, including the water temperature which is currently 17c. Things are slowly starting to improve and the forecast looks good for the rest of this week

ALL CHANGE

10/11/2010

w/c 1 May 2010
What a difference a week makes; the air temperature plummeted to 5c with nearly gale force north-easterly winds, and the water temperature dropped to 14c. It was possibly one of the worst weeks we have had on the lake but we still managed 31 fish – best fish going mid 30s with best catfish going 40 plus. One of the anglers lost one of our big cats; he basically tried his best but was not experienced enough to land it.

Record Breaker

Etang Rendezvous

26/04/2010

The lake is looking wonderful. The causeway over the lake has now been completed and the pier which provides an eating out area plus a double swim, is now also finished. The water temp is currently 14.5 degrees.

The first week (w/c 27 March) got off to a very good start - 2x50+, best fish going just over 52lb, 6x40s, 17x30s and 18x20s and 12xdoubles, all carp of course, as well as 18 cats - 2x100+, 1x70, 1x50 and the rest between 20 and 30. All in all approximately 2000lb of fish were caught.

The following week we had 1x40, 18x30s, 26x20s, 22xdoubles and six catfish – 2x100+ best of which was 102lb, with the rest weighing in at 90,60,40. The first grass carp of the year weighed in at 18lb8oz. One of the anglers had over 1000lb of fish.

Etang Rendezvous

19/02/2007
Fishing last season surpassed all expectations yet again on Etang Rendezvous. We have had mirror carp coming out up to 48lb 3oz which was caught by John Moorcroft and superb commons to 44lb. We have virtually doubled the number of different 40lb carp caught this year, with one fish in particular putting on over 20lb in weight in sixteen months - amazing! The year started off with numerous carp of 40lb+ being caught from the word go, with numbers of anglers catching more 40’s on their holiday. Although spring was approximately 2 weeks late the carp actually started to spawn one month early on 18 April. One of our anglers, Roy Bailey, had a good week’s fishing with two 40’s and quite a considerable amount of 30’s. This year the catfish came on very strong from May until the end of September. Four out of five cats came out in daylight hours. Again the Shanley brothers did well. Adam Shanley caught a stunning 99lb catfish, with his brother Matt having two 40lb+ carp consecutively. Another angler, Mr. Stewart Pope, had an outstanding last night on the lake. He had landed a 42lb mirror carp and within an hour he had caught a 96lb catfish, breaking both pb’s, which certainly made his holiday. We can still boast that nobody has blanked during their holiday. Again pike to upper 20’s have been coming out accidentally on cat baits and we still do not know the full potential of the pike fishing in the lake. Your guess is as good as mine. We have increased our fish stocks this month by adding 50 common and mirror carp averaging 25lb-35lb and 25 grass carp averaging 5lb-15lb. The lake has maintained a good colour throughout last season with over 80 per cent. of the lake remaining free of weed growth and bad snags. There is still no sign of poisson chat or crayfish in the lake at all. For next season our intentions are to keep the lake levels as high as possible making fishing the shallows better. Our policy of having regular rest weeks for the lake still applies benefiting fish and anglers alike. Our facilities were greatly improved last season with the addition of another larger cabin which now separates the facilities. The smaller cabin sleeps 4 and has a large vanity unit plus a shower. The larger cabin, i.e. the day cabin, is fully fitted with kitchen appliances – fridge, freezer, cooker, toaster, microwave and sky tv/DVD. There is also a large table with chairs for dining indoors if the weather is bad. Both of these cabins are completely independently wired for mains electricity.

Etang Rendezvous

14/12/2006
At the beginning of this year an additional larger chalet was installed which now separates the facilities. The smaller chalet sleeps 4 and has a large vanity unit plus a shower. The larger chalet is fully fitted with kitchen appliances - fridge, freezer, cooker, toaster, microwave and sky tv. There is also a large table and chairs for dining indoors should you wish to eat inside. Both of these chalets are independently wired to mains electricity. The growth rate of the fish stock has been outstanding this year. On average the carp both mirror and common, have put on 6lb - 8lb, with one exceptional mirror carp putting on 20lbs in just 16 months. This particular carp when last caught in October now weighs in at 43lb 6oz. With regards to catfish we have 7 different fish in the 90lb barrier, with the best weighing in at 99lb. This year 5 out of 6 catfish have come out in daylight hours. A fantastic season, we're now looking forward to the 2007 season.

What a fish!!

13/06/2006
Pierce and his party at Etang Rendezvous were having a relatively slow week, last week - as the water temperature increased from 16 degrees on the Sunday up to 23 degrees by Thursday! This made the carp basque in the heat - and were completely off the feed. They began to spawn again - not surprisingly. Pierce had a cracking week though - with an 85lb and a 72lb catfish within a couple of hours!! The 85lber put up a fantastic fight and both were exhausted by the end of it.
