What did you find were the best tactics/baits?
Fished 2 rods over a bed of cell boilies and fished 2 rods on 10mm popups with pva sticks, both tactics caught well.

mirrors - caught 3 fish from 16lb 7oz up to 29lb 2oz
What did you find were the best tactics/baits?
2 fish caught on 2 x 16mm hallibutt pelletts and all other fish caught on 18mm cell boilie with either tutti fruiti pop up or pinapple pop up snowman rig over a bed of partical mix and pelletts - tight to the willow trees using a bait boat, in the corner where the pump is and the opening of the small bay to the far end - only 3 fish caught during the day all others at night due to the weather

yes and more than expected - couldn't have asked for anything else

What did you find were the best tactics/baits?
7 of 9 fish came at night. Caught from all areas of the lake ( Margins, Willows, Island and open water ). Corn was lethal accounting for 5 fish others to various bolilie combinations of snow man rigs, pop ups and bottom baits. Nothing on Pallatrax boilies, Nash baits worked well..
Were the facilities what you expected?
We were blown away by the Gite, it was way more than we expected.
Were you happy with them?
Very Happy indeed, perfect for the children ( 4 and 2 years ).

What did you find were the best tactics/baits?
Pallatrax boilies fished to island and margins. Single boilie and 'snowman' rigs used both tipped with sweetcorn. imitation pellet and plastic sweetcorn combo.
Were the facilities what you expected?
The plan was for myself and my sons to spend a quiet week in peaceful surroundings enjoying good food and fishing. Everything achieved.
Were you happy with them?
Yes. Absolutely brilliant .

Highly recommended to anyone who wants peace and quiet and the chance to catch some stunning carp.

35lb mirror 321b common, 2x27lb 24lb 20lb and many more low to high doubles and a few stockies which were put in the stock pond.
A lazy week tbh only fished daytime and im sure night time would have produced plenty more fish but soft beds and beer put pay to that.
What did you find were the best tactics/baits?
cell 18mm choppies and pellet shape boiles over cell response pellets and fished tight to willows and over hanging bushes/tree's

superb couldnt have asked for more.

Yes very the cool gite was nice to come home to after hot days outside.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits?
Retreat specials, Trigga Ice and Tiger Nut boilies of various sizes all produced results. Pop ups, snowman rigs and method feeder used but single boilies with loose fed pellet (bait boated) were best.
Were the facilities what you expected?
Although the gite was mainly used for sleeping (I did not fish at night) it is clear that this is a superb family venue with all age groups catered for.

Most certainly

Definitely so for those taking the family. The 24/7 dedicated bivvy carper would be paying for facilities not required

Beautiful location. The lake and its surroundings are meticulously and thoughtfully maintained. Hosts are helpful but not intrusive. Disappointing not to have got amongst the lake's larger residents but that's carping for you. Hot weather and clear blue skies meant most fish caught early and late on in the day. Nicely tanned Annette 'The Net' not complaing though

Retreat supplied bait using small PVA bags and a light scattering of freebies cast to showing fish.

We had a very enjoyable time. Craig and Caroline are readily availible to help and ensure you have a good time without imposing on you. Sorry I didn't try your cooking but there is only so much sitting you can do in idilic surroundings without feeling lazy. The weather was dry but quite windy with some warm sunshine. Good fishing!! We would consider returning again.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits?
Mainline Fusion & Richworth Tutti boilies seemed to do the trick. Fished tight to the Willow Trees using a baitboat. Only one person really carp fishing and only days (10am-7pm). Happy with catches for the week but someone fishing nights would have done much better, during day fish happy to hide away under cover.
Were the facilities what you expected?
Superb! For a family holiday, this place has everything you could ask for. English satellite TV, huge living room, conservatory with Pool Table/Table Football, outdoor playground for kids. Excellent.
Were you happy with them?
We've been coming away on family fishing holidays for 5 years now and The Retreat accomodation is hard to beat.

Craig & Caroline are excellent hosts in a lovely rural setting. The fishing is not difficult, and although Craig is loathe to advertise it I imagine it would be difficult not to catch at his venue... (spawning week aside!). We had a great time, I caught 7 sizeable Carp in the first week of April, Dad coarse fished the week and had a netfull each day to float tactics, Mum & Beverley insist that Caroline's pamper treatments are a MUST for the ladies and William now wants a play area just like 'the one in France'. Just the job, we'll be back.

In line leads,snowman rigs on a bed of Pellet and Particle. Bait boat used to get under Willows and Island Bridge. Spawing bay also a good area.Used Retreat package and Just Baits Marine Halibut +GLM.

Not the biggest of catches maybe - but we didn't fish every day. The fishing was very enjoyable with Carp at 12, 13 and 21 lbs. Other smaller fish. No photo of the 21 pounder unfortunately!!!
What did you find were the best tactics/baits?
Boilies over particle and pellet ground bait. The method feeder worked well.
Were the facilities what you expected?
The facilities were much better than anyone could have expected - lake and gite.
Were you happy with them?
Very - the gite was incredibly well equipped and the lake was beautiful.Caroline and Craig are excellent hosts. We were also able to get out sightseeing and the area itself is typically French with several lovely towns within travelling distance

Yes - we are already reecommending The Retreat to other fishermen.

Yes. David at CCFH was extremely helpful in organising the whole holiday.

Fantastic - for the angler and the non angler both. Highly recommended.We didn't have children with us but the facilities for children were wonderful. Top quality toys and equipment for them and even DVD and video players to keep teenagers happy! Everyone catered for.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits?
Groundbaiting and prebaiting proved wise tactics with pellet working especially well as a hook bait. The method feeder also proved it's worth.

The venue from the outset looked and felt superb, we were not to be dissappointed. The hosts were fantastic!
