I managed to bag 10 carp with 3 of them being 30s and the rest 20s aside from 1 double. i also landed 3 small cats and lost a big one.

Me, my fiancee and baby spent the week at poplars on 21st april, we had a fantastic week aside from the weather, Paul and Hazel were the perfect hosts and I would definatly return.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits?
Small beds of Boilies and Pellets, both bottom baits and pop ups worked. Baits on far margin and in open water finding gravel spots.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits?
Korda Florocarbon hair rig with a size 6 Korda hook fished with a single boilie and a small PVA bag with crushed boilies. Best results are to fish the far bank
Were the facilities what you expected?
they were good but the barbeque area could have been bigger.
Were you happy with them?
The lake was great and and the caravan was well equiped .Tony is really freindly and gives good advice on how to catch the Carp .

I would recommend the venue to friends its really nice site with a good head of carp

Biggest catfish to 65lbs plus 2 Mirrors to 32lbs and a 25lb sturgeon.
What did you find were the best tactics/baits?
Used double prologic boilie, size 6 hook and 15lb line over a bed of particles.

We very much enjoyed our week on Poplars, and managed to both break our Personal Bests. We averaged a fish a day, with only one carp caught under 20lbs all fish caught were in excellent condition. Advice I would give to any of your future clients is to keep it simple and listen to excellent advice provided by Tony.\r\n \r\n\r\n
What did you find were the best tactics/baits?
From talking to Tony (The Bayliff) & Paul Selman, I got the impression that it is not an easy water to fish and was predominately a night water. We didn't fish nights, and really didn't fish the water hard at all. We usually started fishing between 10am-11am and fished through till about 11pm.
Were the facilities what you expected?
The accomodation was certainly acceptable for our party, with all the mod cons you could want.

I landed 5 carp 36.5lb,36lb 4oz,29lb,27.5lb and 27lb 2oz. and a cat of 12lb\r\n \r\ned landed a 27lb carp and a 56lb cat\r\n \r\ntony banked a 25lb a 24lb a 14lb sturgeon (twice) and an 11lb cat.\r\n
What did you find were the best tactics/baits?
all fish were caught on activ 8 18mm boilies on esp size 8 long shanks ,with long hairs on combi rigs of 15lb mantis gold.

we arrived on the Sunday and were met by Tony . mark (pitbull) Pittman (1) ed samouelle (2) Tony baker (3) Tony pointed out various spots and was extremely helpful .
