Poppy's lake is a stunning 4 acre pool situated on the same complex as the well established Etang du Mee. Used up to now as a stock lake, we have recently removed all small fish and retained approx. 150 carp in the 15lb - 30lb weight range. In addition we will be stocking another 50-60 carp of between 20lb and 35lb plus several more of around 40lb apiece. Poppy's will be the perfect lake for 2 - 4 friends to share on an exclusive basis where they will enjoy tranquil surroundings, a large head of stunning carp and a covered eating area offering both shade from the sun and shelter from the odd rain shower. The lake is quietly situated and completely private and is a haven for wildlife. In the spring the cuckoo will be heard calling throughout the day followed by the evening serenading of the nightingales. Kingfishers nest on the lake as do little grebes and early morning usually see's the visit of snowy white egrets and herons who fish for fry in the margins. It really is a wonderful place to spend a week carping.

The lake is on soft clay with the whole lake bed alive with bloodworm, dragonfly larva and snail ensuring a good natural larder for the fish. Depths range from 1' in the far shallows to 7' at the vidange point and carp will be seen and caught all over the lake. Its a great place for a bit of stalking and can produce very well to the more traditional float fishing methods. Long casts are not necessary and the deeper margins can fish very well indeed. having said that it is not unusual to see large fish in water so shallow that their backs are barely covered so a careful approach can produce some explosive sport.

Anglers will use the facilities at the Millhouse, about 5 mins away, and where modern shower, toilets and charging points are available. As always at Le Moulin du Mee we will do all we can to ensure that our anglers have a great holiday.
