Le Moulin du Mee Great start to 2014 at Le Moulin du Mee

15/04/2014

The warm early spring has certainly impacted on the fishing here at Le Moulin du Mee where big fish have been coming out on a regular basis and although overall numbers are lower than we would have expected this has been more than compensated by the sheer size of the fish banked. As I write we ....more

Le Moulin du Mee Frosty mornings and sunny days.

10/12/2013

This morning we awoke to find a very heavy frost covering the ground and a thin sheet of ice covering much of the lakes. The past few days have usually started cold and frosty but by the time we have completed breakfast the sun will have risen and conditions become quite mild once more. This time o ....more

Le Moulin du Mee Le Moulin du Mee - week 6 summary.

27/04/2013

A week that started warm and sunny finished up wet and cold and with the carp still spawning the catches have gradually tailed off with last night failing to produce a single fish. Lots of thrashing around in the shallows could be heard over night as the carp continued with their spawning and we wil ....more

Reflection on the 2013 Season.

26/11/2013

Every year that the fishery is open has seen notable changes in the type of fishing enjoyed by our anglers. It is a reasonable assumption that as the carp get bigger they also will be getting wiser and this year certainly showed that our carp are proving to be far more elusive than in previous ....more

Le Moulin du Mée is a stunning 14 acre lake in the unspoilt region of France. The lakes are set in 40
acres of woodland and wild flower meadows and are a haven for wildlife. With its own ‘micro climate’ the area boasts long hot summers and mild winters, perfect for the growing on of carp.

With a maximum of 8 anglers allowed at any one time, the lake has never been pressured which has resulted in superb catch results week after week.

  • Lake Size : Main Lake: 14 acres, Second Lake: 4 acres
  • Swims : 10 swims including 2 doubles, 1 suitable for disabled access. (up to 8 for an exclusive booking)
  • Depth : Average 5ft depth, 12ft at its deepest, margins from 1 to 10ft.
  • Carp Stock : Over 500 (lake record 61lb) with upwards of 15 x 50's, 50 x 40's, 250 x 30's, 200 x 20's.
  • Other Fish : Catfish: are between 12 to 90lb+, 6 sturgeon FROM low 20’s to over 40lbs and growing fast. Other species include Pike up to mid 20's, Roach, and a few tench. There are no crays nor poisson chats in the lake
  • Lake Bed : Clay bottom with shallow silt patches and odd stony/gravel patches.
  • Features : 2 Islands, relatively smooth bottom with odd humps and troughs
  • Access : Parking by the house, vehicle access is not possible around the lake.
  • Night Fishing : Yes
  • Boats Allowed : No

The lake has just over 500 stocked carp with weights ranging from low 20's to mid fifties. Last season plenty of 30’s, 40's and 50's were caught, both commons and mirrors and it is estimated there are at least 15 x 50lb+ carp,  50 x 40's,125 x 30’s, 250 over 25lb with the remainder being high teens and low 20’s. In  April of 2011 we saw our first home grown 60 in the form of a common weighing in at 61lb. With the growth rates we have experienced in recent years we could well find that 2011 see's far more very big carp than we have estimated above.  There are also some monster Cats aproaching 100lbs and put on a phenomenal fight.

The small lake, Poppy's, is around 4 acres and is stocked with around 150 small carp ranging from mid doubles to 25lb with an additional 50-60 bigger fish to be stocked prior to the start of the 2012 season. These carp will all be in the 25lb - 40lb bracket.

Excellent shower & toilet facilities on-site for charging bait boats, mobile phones, etc.

There is also an outside eating area where meals are served should you wish to take advantage of the highly recommended food package.

The food package comes highly recommended and is served at the outside eating area. The cost of €125 includes breakfast, two course evening meal and a glas of Beer or Wine.

Le Moulin du Mee regard a highly nutritional bait to be vital for both the welfare and growth of the carp but also for consistent angling results. Boilies are hand rolled using pre-digested fishmeals in a top quality base mix and frozen on site. The pellet comes in a variety of sizes and is fed to the carp all year round. Once again fishmeals form the basis of this premium quality pellet range.

Boilies
12 euro's per kilo
10 or 16mm Pellets 38 euro's per 20 kilo sack (fed to carp all year)
Cooked Maize 2 euro's per kilo

Prepared and cooked maize is available to order at 10 kilo for 15 euros.

If bait is required please order two weeks before your holiday and it will be ready for your arrival.

I had an excellent week even though the fishing was tough and the weather wasn't great. I did have one issue however regarding the distance to the fishery,i think the key on your website should be travelling time from calais and not (as i later discovered) from the nearest port.It is misleading and ....more
