I had the privilege to spend a week at Paul Hawkins Fishylake. It was one of the worst weeks for the weather for years in France. The weather was bad but the fishing was great! We are delighted to be in partnership with France’s first fishery to be awarded a gold category 2 commercial award from the British Disabled Angling Association (BDAA) with regards the facilities and access for disabled people. Please see their website www.bdaa.co.uk for further information.
Fishylake is a family run carp lake which caters for disabled and able bodied people alike. The fishery is also environmentally friendly. They use solar panels for electricity and have a specially adapted toilet which is both environmentally and disabled friendly.
Fishylake is around 3 acres with most banks treelined and is the perfect size for up to 4 anglers. It has variable depths of 3 to 7 feet and a firm bed with silt patches with a good variety of lillies in the quiet areas of the lake, where the fish can retreat to.
There is a cabin which includes a kitchen and large wet room and toilet, all of which have been built to the specific requirements of the BDAA. Along side this is a 1 bedroom chalet which comprises twin beds and washing facilites which also meets the requirements of the BDAA.
