Birch lake is located mid-way between the towns of Vitre and Laval, a few minutes drive away from a pretty Bretagne village. The lake is situated in private fenced grounds on the edge of the forest  and down a little-used country side-road.

The 1 1/4 hour drive from St Malo is all by motoway and there are no tolls. The lake is 2 1/2 hours from Caen 3hrs from Le Havre, and 3 hours Cherbourg - again no tolls. Calais is 4 1/2 hours away by new motoway.

Dogs are allowed at this venue.

Birch Lake is 2.5 acres in size and is regarded by many as the most beautiful lake on the complex. The first glimpse of it from the dam wall has been described by many visitors as 'simply stunning.'
 

Birch is a long lake, with the non-fishing bank composed of an unbroken series of over-hanging Birch trees, hence its name. A very atmospheric lake, and one of the most tranquil and private lakes in France, it is set in fully-fenced private woodland. The wildlife on Birch is rich and varied, and it is home to resident kingfishers, birds of prey, red squirrels, mallards and many species of song birds.

Many personal bests have been taken from Birches since 2002, and many anglers are completely captivated by Birch, and return every year - which is no surprise to us. Parties have complete privacy, and are not overlooked.

Bait boats are strongly recommended at this venue to present baits under the marginal trees although a one-man rowing is provided.
 

The chalet on Birch Lake has recently undergone an extensive upgrade and extension and has been re-clad externally and internally in wood panelling. It now provides very comfortable accommodation for the small family and is only a couple of yards from the water's edge.

The chalet has mains electricity and hot and cold running water and comprises one bedroom with a double bed, a fully equipped kitchen with gas cooker and oven, microwave, fridge, fridge/freezer and storage cupboards. The living/dining area provides a double bed-settee, tables and chairs, English TV with DVD, CD player etc.

The bathroom has a shower, English toilet and wash basin.

There is a barbecue area right outside the mobile home complete with garden furniture, overlooking the shallows. There is a separate shed for the storage of tackle.
 

Birch Lake are now offering a complete food package for 110 euros per week - this is payable in cash on arrival. Please inform carp-france.com on booking if you require the food package.This consists of a breakfast and evening meal.

Hot Breakfast/Brunch Baguette. Contains three fried eggs, English bacon and sausage, mushrooms. Described by all as 'awesome'.

Evening meals: there is a weekly menu which includes Chicken Curry with chips/rice, Cottage Pie, Corned Beef Pie and Chips,  Beef Casserole with dumplings, Beef and Mushroom Pie, Chicken and Chips, Sunday Pork  Roast, with a dessert of the day. All freshly cooked and delivered to your swim or accommodation. The meals are big!

We can cater for vegetarians or any special dietary requests if we receive good notice.

Individual breakfasts and evening meals can also be purchased if you let us know by 10am each day.

Also pasties, pies and sandwiches are available on request by separate purchase. All home-cooked fresh each day and delivered hot to your accommodation or swim!

We strongly recommend you purchase our pellets on which the fish are fed. A 20kg sack (which should last 2/3 anglers for the week) costs just 45 euro.
