First of all the food package. If you are considering going here then YOU MUST opt for it. Superb cannot be faulted. Hazel you are a magician in the kitchen! Thankyou!!! Ok the lake. As with fishing at this late in the season , its a gamble. Its clear the catch reports indicate there are plenty of monsters living in this lake. Unfortunately luck was against us. It rained very heavily for half the time we were there. One of us sat at the far end swim (catfish corner) blanked. Another sat in the second swim up from the mobile home, blanked. And the third of our party sat in swim three just down from catfish corner. The rain then stopped and during the third night two catfish came out at 50lb and 65lb also a 31lb mirror came out. The following night a further 64lb cat showed its whiskers. If you come here you need o be aware that this appears to be (in my opinion) a predominantly catfish lake. No doubt there are carp there but the cats offer a fight that you will never ever forget. Unfortunately the neighbouring lake (Birch Lake) was occupied by three other guys who up to the time we left had a cat around 50lb or so. Due to the cats do not even think about going here without having rods of at least 2.75lb test and I would suggest line of at least 20lb, any less then you risk losing the fight of your life, it really is that good. As we left Isaw what appeared to be the start of algae blooming on the surface, from previous experience I know once this takes hold then thats it , you may as well pack up and go the pub. we used all sorts of baits. Boilies- no fish. Maize/corn- no fish. All cats came from ither inch square size luncheon meat chunks or 22mm halibut pellets. The carp actually swallowed 'five' of these pellets on a long catfish hair rig. All in all an enjoyable week and a big thanks to Paul and Hazel. (hope caravan was clean enough when we left!!!)
