A Croc has been spotted frozen in the ice at Oakwood Fisheries!!!......or is it part of a tree the latest storm bought down!! Great picture i have actually shown it to a few friends and they asked me why we have crocodiles in the lake lol......... quote "is that not bad for your fish"
We are now about done with all the bankside clearing for the year. The lake is looking really beautiful and a big fire is always nice in the cold!
This week has seen lovely clear days with bitter winds. Great for working, we have been continuing with our planned works and improvements to the fishery.
First we set about clearing the south facing bank which had Alders growing the whole length of it, these were removed and cut up for fire wood. This has left spectacular views over the end of the lake. As you can seen Oakwood Fisheries is a mature stunning venue of over 150 years old.
The weather is turning with the arrival of Storm Angus so this week we were making the most of the fine weather removing and cutting back bank side vegetation.
Great lake shots who would think its mid November!
Here at Oakwood Fisheries we take pride in providing an extremley well run fishery for our clients to fish in the summer months while enjoying a relaxing week lakeside.
You may think that come the winter us lake managers sit in front of the fire with our feet up but in reality it is the other end of the spectrum!
A good lake is always improving and the winter months is the time when we get to do these works whilst feeding the hungry carp everyday to ensure they are in tip top condition come the start of the season.
In this blog we will provide an insight into what we get up to.
A recent purchase of a mini digger certainly helps! This week i have been removing a few dangerous snags out of swim 1 which before were not possible to move.
