La Petite Martiniere - Where did that year go!

We would like to say a very big "thank you" to all our customers old and new who have a made a great 2012 season for Nikki and I.

With all the big trees around La Petite work is already in full swing, just removing the leaves from the water is a full time job!  We've done a little more planting on the banks and it is looking in good shape for the new up and coming season.

We have reinvested most of the years money on our new winter stock and hope to have them here by December.  We will start our winter lime and chalking programme for the best water quality we can have around January time.

Hope to see you on our banks in 2013

Marc & Nikki

La Petite Martiniere - Dutch men bearing gifts

Blog Post Image Blog Post Image Blog Post Image Blog Post Image

Day 1 Frank van Luijn and his dad Frans are back with us ...after a non stop 8 hour drive in this heat they needed a cold beer or two before setting up..Frans was very kind to buy us a deep-fat fryer so we can cook our own frikandels dutch style.. when we did go down to the water the fish were showing on the top and also a bit of spawing was going on.. Frank got me some new spare motors for our baitboat and then needed me to fix our one asap after his new one stopped and started smoking from the battery compartment..at the min they are watching the england game

Day 2 We had a storm around 3am and no fish over night the good news back from the guys is there is no more line knocks with big sid out of the way..the sun is back with us with some signs of feeding going on in the middle water.. bang on 9.50am the masters left hand rod go's off right by me the take looks like a sturgeon but after a little fight we see the tail of a carp a nice mirror at 28lb
Sunday Overcast in the morning, then partly cloudy. Fog early. High of 23C. Winds less than 5 km/h.
Sunday Night Partly cloudy in the evening, then overcast. Fog overnight. Low of 10C. Winds less than 5 km/h.

Around 11am Frank got a double run and takes his right hand rod and gets dad to take the left... for Frank a tench and dad a 14kg - 30.8lb spawned out mirror next time Frank haha ...air temps at 25c

Looks like some of our bigger fish are starting to like Franks sticky baits boilies with a 16kg - 35.2 lbs spawned out mirror falling at 4pm to a vortex..thats very good going 3 nice fish out in the heat of the day so far

Just back from the dinner run and on the way back i hear a delkim ring out.. 10 mins go bye and frank is on the walky talky to say split tail is in the net at 14.1 kg = 31 lbs this makes 5 fish at 129.7lbs just today

Day 3 The guys lost 2 overnight and then got some needed sleep..i see Frank drop a nice fish at the net at 8am that was a shame...but it was not to long before the sticky boy banked the first one of today at 14.6 kg = 32.1 lbs

‎2nd for Frank today at 13.5 kg = 29.7 lbs

‎3rd for Frank van Luijn today 13.2 kg = 29 lbs...all on boilies and a change of hook size down from 6 to a 8/10 have helped ..Frans had no luck so far so his is going to change hook bait from maize to a sticky

The 4th fish fell for Frank van Luijn today around 8pm with this nice spawned out mirror hitting the net at 16.2 kg = 35.6 lbs

Frans the master is also banking some nice fish he had this one just before dark a nice football mirror at 13.4 kg = 29.5 lbs

Day 4 The lads are not night fishing with the days fishing well..Frank said they are on 14 fish so far and no signs of Jurgen and Baby Sid

Tuesday Partly cloudy in the morning, then clear. High of 27C. Winds from the NE at 5 to 15 km/h

Tuesday Night Overcast with a chance of a thunderstorm and rain in the evening, then partly cloudy. Low of 14C. Winds less than 5 km/h. Chance of rain 40% with rainfall amounts near 0.5 mm possible.

Just had a dutch lunch with nikki, frank ,frans, nigel and bev using our new deep-fat fryer so we can cook our own frikandels the dutch way ...and very nice it was too..Frank said it was a little too hot for fishing ..so far today 5 have hit the nets also little sid come out around 12pm

Day 5 And it's a hot one at 7am the walky talky go's off with Frank van Luijn saying come down for a photo.. so off i go to see whats waiting for me..and i was happy to see our grass carp last time it was out to Frans it went 13.6 kg = 29.9 lbs today it was 14.8 kg = 32.6 lbs

So far this week 27 fish have come out in the day time Frank said it was slowing down a little.. so he tipped in around 100 boilies back on his spots around 10pm and this kicked it off again for today with 3 fish from 7am to 10am coming out

The Master is still banking some nice fish with this beauty at 13 kg = 28.6 lbs coming in the rain just after a small thunderstorm

Our bait testers Kevin & Nigel said they had a fantastic time at La petite and really enjoyed meeting the Dutch Masters, two of the nicest guys you could wish to meet. Thanks for the freebies. Look forward to seeing you again

Day 6 Was a little cold and overcast to start with but the sun has now come out and its nice and hot now.. the lads said 33 fish have hit the netts this week

After tonight dinner of meatballs and onion, homemade wedges with peas i sat with the guys for a bit frank said i make the fish come for them...after 15mins Frans got a run but dropped it and frank banked a nice fish not big just 11 kg = 24.2 lbs a grey common showing some damage from spawning that we treated

Day 7 last day for the guys.. looks very slow on the water with some sun coming later ..i was working on a friends van for 3 hours so after that i went down to see the lads for a little beer or two and it picked up a little with 7 more fish coming out the last two over 14 kg = 30.8 lbs

La Petite Martiniere - Stuck in the mud

Blog Post Image Blog Post Image Blog Post Image Blog Post Image

Day 1 With the days forecast for rain and thunderstorms Lewis Murry & Kevin from sunny kent must have dragged some over with them because its the best day here for 3 weeks..Lewis has got one of the giant fox bivvys down at swim 5..Murry is at swim 4 and his dad Kevin is on swim 6 the cabin..after setting up and a bit of bait on their spots its is now 7pm and the guys are having a BBQ in the sun..8pm and the rain and thunderstorms have come to stop play

Back from a wet breakfast run and the lads said the thunderstorm come just at the end of the BBQ last night and swiched the fish on with 3 carp banked and around 5 dropped the night was noisy with fish crashing all over but it has gone a little quiet

Day 2 Was slow in the day but at 6.30pm for around 30 mins they hit the feed hard with a 33lb Common going to Murry at swim 4.. Little Sid fell to Kevin at swim 6 the cabin and a single to Lewis down at swim 5 ...Kevin got his head down in the cabin at 11pm and the boys banked again at 2am and 4am a 11lb for Murry and a 24lb for Lewis Weather today mostly cloudy with a chance of rain in the morning, High of 19C with Breezy Winds from the SSW at 15 to 20 km/h. Chance of rain 70% with rainfall amounts near 4.6 mm possible. Pressure 1016mb and Steady with full moon

Day 3 The lads are on a breakfast only deal so a trip out for food was needed because of the rain they drove to Laval and found The Buffalo Grill for a spot of lunch and a break from the wet stuff..Kevin has now landed all the Sturgeon but dropped all of his carp runs..their BBQ last night was also in the rain at 11pm but not so for the fish with a slow night at the hook with fish crashing all over in the moon light

Day 4 It's a wet WWII Victory Day, Fête de la Victoire 1945 in france today..Overcast with rain, then a chance of rain in the afternoon. High of 18C. Breezy. Winds from the SW at 10 to 25 km/h. Chance of rain 90% with rainfall amounts near 4.0 mm possible. Pressure 1009mb and Rising..down at breakfast i see Kevin was having some sport with Big Sid but dropped it after a min or two

We had some activity overnight with the 1st carp of Kevins trip at 14lb and the 1st Sturgeon (Big Sid) for Lewis and a single for Murry all in the rain

Day 5 It's Murrys Birthday so me and the lads are off out to a Warner Brothers bar in Laval for a drink..Our margin spots are very slow with little signs that they are feeding most of the fish are coming from the open water..and it looks the same for most of the lakes around us ...some reporting spawning going on

Last night was showing fish all over and looking good for the night..after a run each around 12am Murry and Lewis was in need of sleep after their day karting and a little beer.. so it was time to take the rods out and get their heads down..Kevin was hoping to bank a nice carp after seeing a lot down by the cabin end on the baited spots..around 3am he was into a good fish after a great fight of 30mins he see it was the Grass carp..he was so happy to have hooked a fish over 30lbs and if he banked it it would put him in the lead for total weight of the week and into the £40 pot the lads have going...the fish was ready to come in but the landing net was out of reach also the walky talky to me was flat...so he give a shout out to both the boys but they was dead to the world..he manage to get the net but this fish is very long making a 42' net look small and he lost it at the net along with a PB..That's fishing

Day 6 And a great day it is dry and sunny with a temp of 25c..Kevin is still sick after the grass carp..and the boys cant stop laughing about it ..we hope the big change in weather may help the carp feed more after breakfast is said to the guys to check out the area at the back of the monk 1st thing in the morning around 6am at the min and up to about 8.30 - there were quite a few fish feeding there without baiting it up ! but they said there still asleep till 9am i did say they are missing the morning shift haha

Just back from seeing two of our dutch friends rob & Jaap that are fishing at my friend tonys place lac serenity for the 1st this week shame the guys are going home tomorrow because they are unlocking the lake

Day 7 The last full day for the lads Lewis banked a 24lb carp last night and is only around 4lb behind Kevin who is now after the Sturgeon to win the £40 pot..they are of out to The Buffalo Grill for their last french lunch..just got a call to say the van is stuck in the mud so out with the quad to pull it out ..todat overcast with a chance of rain. High of 19C. Winds from the NNW at 10 to 15 km/h. Chance of rain 70% with rainfall amounts near 2.5 mm possible Pressure 1023mb and Steady

La Petite Martiniere - 1st Timers hoping for a sturgeon

Blog Post Image Blog Post Image Blog Post Image Blog Post Image

Day 1 We welcome Brian van der Heijden and his friends Mark and Steve all the way from sunny Holland we are very happy the guys picked us for their 1st trip to France Little Steve is hoping for a sturgeon..i think his wish may come true our follower on facebook are give odd  of 10/1 on Sid coming out!! ‎10/2 Jurgen and Odds on Little Sid the baits this week are 20mm XXX and our 24/18mm Pineapple Punch boilies

Our friend kevin was spot on with big sid coming out to little Steve he also banked a nice mirror at 12kg last night all the guys got runs but only steve got them home ...the weather is still wet but a change in the wind from a n/n/w to a south may help them

Day 2 The weather is still wet but with a change in the wind from a n/n/w to a south i was hoping for a change in the carp feeding but with the cold water temps for this time of year only the sturgeon are happy

Day 3 We had some sun today for our Dutch guys on Queens Day...The boys ask me if i can take them to a shop for waterproof clothing that Mark needed ..so they baited up some spots for later and off we went to Laval peche one of the better fishing shop here.. 1 hour later the guys are all loaded up with goodies to try and look happy..but on the drive back the rain has returned again

Day 4 A lovely day with lots of sunshine and a nice temp of 18c and lots of fish showing in the upper waters...The boys give me a call to say our bait boat was playing up ..so i open it up to find one of the motors is not happy and needs a new one..the lads have had around 10 runs today but for some reason did not hook into a fish..i give the boys some of our rigs just to try but looking at their set ups there is not much wrong hope tonight is better for them

Day 5 They say that good things come to those who bait and the boys are doing that alright along with some old school rigs with very short hairs they are not dropping fish now only 3 runs so far today but all fish banked...just back from the guys after a call at 8pm from little steve.. he banked 2 carp in that hour with a 11.5 kg commom and Brian netted a tench so looks like the rigs are working there is a full moon now hope it dont kill the fishing

Day 6 With the air temps around 19c and full sunshine the fish are lazing around in the upper waters with only a tench coming out around 3pm..just spoke to the boys at 10pm and it is very quiet i hope this fish are heading down to the bottom for a feed tonight

Day 7 Last full day for the boys.. after two nice warm dry days it is looking like the rain is on its way.. Forecast for Pays-de-la-Loire today is Overcast with rain, then thunderstorms in the afternoon. High of 17C. Winds less than 5 km/h. Chance of rain 90% with rainfall amounts near 6.9 mm possible ...and more of the same for next week with a full moon

I had a great week with the guys and was very happy they still liked the place with all the bad weather and a lake full of difficult fish for their 1st trip to France..Lots of runs and lots of rain but only 15 fish out next time guys.. i hope the tips work for you in your fishing back in holland

La Petite Martiniere - Our very 1st customers Adi & Paul are back for their 4th trip

Blog Post Image Blog Post Image Blog Post Image Blog Post Image

Day 1 for Adi and Paul our very 1st customers to fish at La Pettite the lads are on their 4th trip with us and are setting up in the rain showers down at swims 4 and 5 and are hoping cell and xxx will do some damage for them this week.. we also have our great friends Nick and Sandra over from the uk for a long weekend so after a lovely lunch out with them in Vitré we took a walk down the the lake to see Adi playing a fish after a 5min fight in come Jurgen the Sturgeon

Day 2 is a very wet very slow day for the lads with just 3 fish 2 for Adi and 1 for Paul both the boys had two very nice single linears and Adi netted Jurgen again they said the showers is killing the feading at the min

Day 3 our friend Kevin the bait tester said that he can't believe the weather!! Sunshine, rain and hailstone all at the same time! Think I'd be better off in the bar and i think he is right..i did the breakfast run at 9am in the rain yet again only to see Paul's left hand rod pick up a run and after a little sport a nice 28lb.14oz mirror hit the net ..then Nikki and i dropped off Nick and Sandra at the airport after a great lunch out with them..just back from the dinner run and Adi banked the 1st tench of this year one of our smaller ones at around 4lb also he dropped one and got into Jurgen again

Day 4 very wet and slow night for the lads but a better day with some dry and sunny times Paul was at it again bang on breakfast time with a 27lb fish and Adi was messing around with the big sturgeons for most of the day...At dinner the boys said Adi had a 2nd tench and his 1st 30lb fish this year our old mate split tall

Day 5 High winds of 35km from the south and rain hit today this along with cold water temperatures of only 10c a drop of 3c just this week are not inducing the fish to feed well..so far only Paul netted a fish today ..April is always likely to be a changeable month but we would have expected conditions to be a good bit warmer than they are now.. with the next weeks weather looking to be cool and wet it is looking likely that the fishing will continue to be rather unpredictable roll on summer

Day 6 The winds have past but the rain is still around Adi has moved to swim 1 the cabin for a bit of stalking just for the day time and to get away from the big sturgeons for 5 mins and it payed of for him with a 31lb 4oz carp.. Paul is still catching by swim 2 with some high singles and low doubles also the 1st time out for little sid in 2012..he said that he thinks he has hooked into the grass carp but it just snaps the line all the time

Day 7 The Last full day for the lads ..With a break in the wet weather the boys packed up the big stuff and will sleep in the cabin tonight with the carp not playing the sturgeon are running wild

We said goodbye to the lad today and i must say they deserved a medal to stick it out in this weeks weather the boys did bank 28 fish 15 for Adi with two over 30lb giving him the fish of the week and Paul on 13 with a best at 27lb 14oz.. best bait this week was CC Moores XXX with a carp balls uk yellow blackcurrant pop up doing the most damage
