Not knowing exactly what to expect when you know 3 young lads are fishing your lake for the first time we were very pleasantly surprised. Lewis, Sam and Luke were the perfect guests showing absolute respect to us, our fish and their surroundings, their parents should be very proud of themselves they did a great job bringing them up.
The lads were rewarded, all with new pb's with Lewis taking the majority of the fish from "The Rock" swim, including a pristine 49lb 10oz Common called "Big Tail".
It was a real pleasure to meet the lads and it's good to know that with anglers like this the future of Carp fishing is in good hands.
It was with such delight that we received a phone call last night from Claire to say that Jamie had caught a really big fish. On arrival at the lake we were greeted by much excitement and when we saw the fish we could understand why, the question was would it make the magical 50lb mark ?
Imagine how pleased we were to see the scales finally stop at 51lbs, we knew there were fish over 50 but to have it finally confirmed was amazing.
The fish was caught near to the rock on a critically balanced Alphabaits Monster Crab boillie.
A very well done to Jamie & Claire on a fantastic result and as Jamie turns 30 on Monday what an early Birthday present
Paul and his son Adam left the lake this morning after being here for a week, his final tally was 10 Carp including 4 x 40's to 49lb 12oz, 4 x 30's to 39lb and 2 x 20's the smallest fish being 25lbs.
Considering the weather changes, we were frozen over just 3 weeks ago, and yesterday's temperature was 26 degrees, although we did have a frost in the morning,Paul did very well and he left here a very contented man.
Everything seems to be "springing" into life now although we realised yesterday the Cats have woken :up and they were finding fresh fornicated frogs to be the "plat du jour" yum yum!!!! :(
Our friend Paul arrived last Thursday to give us a hand with the last few bits and pieces to get ready for our 8th season and my goodness has he been rewarded, some of the fish he has caught so far include a 49lb Common, a 46lb Common, a 39lb Mirror, a 37lb Mirror and a 31lb Mirror.........I do hope we can persuade him to leave before the season starts lol.
After -22 degree temperatures last week the lake has now started to thaw, we have a good supply of fresh water going in through the stream so fingers crossed it won't take too long for a complete thaw.
On a plus side it looks stunning, if a little cold lol.
