Great weeks fishing with 72 carp between 2 anglers during our 1 st week. The biggest went 48lb 12oz with 2 other fish over 40lb and a shed load vof fish over the 30lb mark.
First time over to France, Terry Ali and partner Claire, along with a first time visit to Lac du Val, Dylan and partner Amy, nailed over 30 fish between themselves. Terry broke his PB on his first night and continued to do so another 4 times with his biggest going to a cracking mirror weighing in at 40lb 12oz 💥👍🎣🙂.
Dylan and Amy, who travelled from Ireland, also enjoyed their holiday with us, with Dylan breaking his catfish PB, hitting the scales at 33lb 8oz. Top angling guys and of course top "scooping/photographing” girls 💪🙌😃!! Hats off to you Dylan for the hard work you put in . We really enjoyed your company and look forward to seeing you all again 😊❤️.
“Irish Carpers” member Sean smashed his PB with a cracking mirror hitting the scales at 42lb 12oz 🙌👍💯💥🎣. One of our new fish stocked this winter, slightly down on her weight but as expected. Well done Sean Top dangling!!!
He and John finished their week with 22 fish on the bank, (plus dropping 7), which included John's PB common, "Survivor" hitting the scales @ 44lb 8oz. Along with 3 x 30's to 36lb 4oz and 14 mid to high 20's, it's safe to say they had a cracking weeks holiday. Well done guys!! 🙂
See you again in September...... Rigs now sorted and no more dropped fish eh 👍
It's been a tough week for the boys with the lake fishing really slow. But as they say... The best things come to he who waits! Oddscale up in weight at 64 8. Smashed his Pb by 40lbs!! Good job Phil!
Fish was caught on Premier bottom bait with a wicked whites topper. On a simple KD style rig and a super sharp mugga hand sharpened hook. All available on site at very competitive prices.
Good thinking by one of our latest guests, after a quite period Mike decided to have a wander round the back of the island to have a look for the fish and found a few shoaled up under the trees. He cast a small, bright pink Nash Citruz pop-up just short of the tree. As I was waiting for the line to sink, it twitched a few times and then bolted off to the right, resulting in this cracking, scale perfect common at 42lb 7oz

I joined this site to hopefully improve my catfish knowledge.
Last year I fished my first cat lake in France and managed 5 cats on carp gear with a pb of 59lb 12oz and lost six. After that trip I felt I was never really in control of the cats and hadn’t maximised the potential of the lake so after asking a few basic questions on this site and reading plenty of other chaps questions I felt more prepared.
I arrived at Paul Selman's Etangs de Breton on Orchard Lake on the 20th April the lake had produced very little the previous week Paul informed me so I was very cautious and started with three 3lb test curve rods 15lb line and 25lb hooklengh and a 6 hook to try and tempt a carp. O Dear! Three hours later 3 hook pulls and 2 breaks the cats had woke up!
Never mind I was ready for them: two newly acquired 12ft Madcat rods complete with 50 lb Armourkord hooklength and a 2 hook on 25lb Big Game line a version of Dan Tully's meat rig basically but with a boilie on were put out. These changes meant there were no more breaks of hook length again I did lose an odd catfish but only fishing days roughly 90 hours of fishing in the week had an unbelievable weeks fishing landing 43 cats which included 11 20lb plus fish, 7 30lb plus fish, 5 40lb plus fish, 4 50 lb plus fish and a new pb of 68lb.
I also managed six carp including a 35lb 4oz mirror and a stalked 36lb 4oz mirror.
I would like to say a big thankyou to all on this site who are so keen to give other anglers use of their valuable knowledge without this I wouldn’t have had such a great week.
What an amazing complex Etang de Breton is: stunning lakes with amazing fishing and fantastic owners at bargain prices.
Thanks again all, tight lines!
