Croix Blanche Tortue Lake - An amazing week

Blog Post Image Blog Post Image

The last week of September has to go down as a truly amazing week’s fishing. Star of the week was undoubtedly, regular at the venue, Ceri Howells from Wales who banked an incredible 69 fish in the week including catfish to 103lb & carp to 50lb 6oz.

Fishing on peg 12 on the Tortue Lake Ceri used the unusual tactic of fishing with maggots. This can indeed be a deadly technique, which I’ve witnessed firsth and on other venues, but Ceri showed just how effective it can be for both carp and catfish, if used correctly. Using a large number on a piece of dental floss he tied this D rig style to the hook and then used a bait boat the place his rig and a handful of maggots & pellets on the spots. This caused a very intense feeding frenzy in the swim and on a number of occasions takes were almost instantaneous.
His haul consisted of 69 fish with 20 catfish over 60lb (including 3 over 90lb and the 103lb monster) and carp or 40lb 10oz; 41lb8oz; 41lb 9oz & 50lb 6oz.

Other anglers on the venue also had a good week, Belgian anglers Christophe Aelterman & Wim Waerniers got amongst the fish on pegs 13 & 14 with carp to 46lb 4oz and catfish to 61lb 2oz.

A compatriot of theirs Jhomar Vervoort was fortunate to land the sought after fish, the two-tone common at 46lb.

Finally the other huge surprise for the week was from the Croix Blanche Lake where Herman Kerkvelit took the big mirror from peg 6 at 59lb. This fish has not been banked since April 2011.
All in all an amazing week’s fishing. Well done to all concerned.

Tight Lines
Gareth

Birch Lake - Top-Up Stocking

Blog Post Image Blog Post Image Blog Post Image Blog Post Image

Every year we add a few thirties to increase the percentage of 30lb plus carp in Birch Lake, which is very popular and produced a best of 43lb last season. Last week we introduced two new mirrors of 30lbs and 33lbs, and two commons of 31lbs and a real stunner at 36lb plus. We hope to add one or two more thirty plus carp soon in readiness for the 2014 season.

Poplars Lake - Top-Up Stocking

Blog Post Image Blog Post Image Blog Post Image

Every year we add a few thirties to increase the percentage of 30lb plus carp in Poplars Lake, which produced a best of 42lb last season and where many anglers banked new pb carp and cats to over 100lb. Last week we introduced three new mirrors, two at 32lbs and a real looker at 36lb plus. We will be adding one or two more thirty plus carp soon in readiness for the 2014 season so that every other fish hooked should hopefully be a 30lb plus in Poplars next year.

Poplars Lake - Top-Up Stocking 2015

Blog Post Image Blog Post Image

As is our policy we add a few nice carp to Poplars Lake each season to increase the percentage of 30lb plus fish in the lake. We have added a few more this December all 30lb-35lb, courtesy of Bigot Pisciculture. Every other carp in Poplars now should be 30lb plus and we hope to add one or two more carp ready for the new season.

Blog Post Image Blog Post Image Blog Post Image

After draining our largest lake at La Verrerie early November 2018 we had it professionally netted on 22 November to remove the smaller fish and to keep only our larger fish. We kept 41 carp ranging from 16lb to 30lb+ and a mirror carp at 39lb, the fish were all in lovely condition.

Last Thursday 28 February we bought 8 mirror carp from a local fish farmto restock the weights being 20lb to 27.5lb they were all in excellent condition, please see our videos and photos

Lac du Val - LAC DU VAL'S SECOND MAJOR STOCKING!!!

Blog Post Image Blog Post Image Blog Post Image Blog Post Image

Well. We must admit that our posts have been a bit few and far between recently but I'm sure your not interested in the amount of trees that have gone into the lake, due to the recent storms we have all experienced etc. 😫😫

Is anyone interested in "Lac du Val’s" stocking programme this year?
🤔🤔

And anything new that's swimming around?

..........

Because it's that time of the year again !!!!!

😄😍🔥❤️🙏💪🤜🤛 💯🎣🎣🎣

In total, we have finally managed to source an additional ➡️ 9 fish ⬅️ !!!!
🎊🎉💯❤️😍🔥🙏🎣🎣🎣🎣
This is our second stocking since we took over Lac du Val.

Some might think this is an easy task, but I assure you, it's not quite as straight forward as it sounds, when you are looking at purchasing from a reputable supplier. Our new residents will definitely compliment our current stock and in return, give you guys some new stunners to target.

The stocking 2020:

6 mirrors, to include an absolutely stunning scaley @ 26lb, a 39lb 13oz, a 41lb 8oz, a 45lb 8oz, a 47lb 6oz and a "51lb", to accompany hopefully another of our 50's, "Cailiñ" whose best weight last year went to 48lb. All absolutely cracking and in perfect condition

And then there's the commons. Another "Ghosty" @ 34lb, to go with our current resident Ghosty "Casper" who's best weight last year was 44lb. And to join our biggest common "Survivor", another of our current big fish hopefully hitting the magical 50lb plus this year, a 38lb 8 oz and a 45lb 5oz

To summarise, 1 x 24lb, 3 x 30's to 39lb 13oz, 4 x 40's to 47lb 6oz and a 51lber which we feel is getting "Lac du Val" to where we want it.

Unfortunately, after hand picking these fish and having to travel over 400 miles to get home, we did not want to stress them out any more than necessary, and only took pictures of the ones that were prepared to have their mug shot taken in 10 seconds flat, which amounted to just the 5 mirrors & a common. The others were having none of it !!!! We'll leave it up to you guys to provide additional pictures during the coming season when you have them on the bank.

Are we whetting your appetite for this years fishing experience ?

So which one catches your eye?

Not too long now before we welcome back our regulars and new comers here at ➡️ Lac du Val ⬅️.

Tight lines!!!!
